James Allen was a British philosopher and poet who became well known for his books and essay on success and self awareness.
In 1903 he published his third and best selling book, “As a Man Thinketh”. This essay was Allen rise to fame and is consider the pioneer of the self help niche.
Allan states that “a man is literally what he thinks”, the inside mind is the cause to every effect in our lives. Whatever you fail to achieve is all related to your thoughts.
This little short book is to simply remind you that life is what you make it. We are all responsible for our own life, there is no need to blame anyone but our self if we ever meet difficult circumstances. We have the power to overcome any challenge.
The working of our minds has a direct affect in our lives. The mind is actually like a garden. The thoughts that you plant today will determine what type of fruit you will get in the future.
Here are some quotes from James Allen “As a A Man Thinketh” :
Men do not attract what they want, but what they are.
As the physically weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training, so the man of weak thoughts, can make them strong by exercising himself in right thinking.
Right thinking begins with the words we say to ourselves.
Every action and feeling is preceded by a thought
A man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life.
All that you accomplish or fail to accomplish with your life is the direct result of your thoughts.
Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so you shall become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil.
Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.
You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.
